Remember, knowing them last year was last year's news. Find out who they are now. 2. Expect a ROI – Figuring out how much to spend on marketing efforts is one thing, but it shouldn't be a question of how much you can afford to lose; it should be a question of how much you want to gain. Marketing is about procuring a return on your investment (ROI). Don't spend dollars because you think you have to. Do it because you know it works. Just make sure you’re spending the dollars wisely to produce the greatest ROI. 3. Track Everything – Technology has made it easier than ever to track the success of most of your marketing efforts. Add unique phone numbers, web URL codes, or text message short codes to your ads and marketing pieces, and keep track of which ones are working and which ones aren't. Don't continue to spend money on something that doesn't generate results.
